It seems incredible that this will be the 20th annual South End Open Studios.
In a little history for some (a walk down memory lane for others) we want to remind you
that South End Open Studios began with a group of artists at the Boston Center for the
Arts inviting neighbors in for a light brunch and a chance to visit their studios. From
those early days of 20-30 artists opening their studio for a few hours, South End Open
Studios has grown to encompass over 260 individual artists and almost 20 galleries in 12
major buildings as well as stand alone studios throughout the neighborhood. We are now open
two full days and draw between 8,000 and 10,000 visitors each year.
DUE DATE
Your participation form must be received no later than Friday, June 30th to qualify for the discounted entry fee and also to assure your listing in the USEA brochure
Participation Form 2006
PROMOTIONAL BROCHURE
USEA will be printing 20,000 promotional brochures. Each registered artist will be provided with 75 – 100 self-mailing brochures that will include a map and full listings of all participating artists. Brochures will be available in mid-August.
USEA is also continuing to upgrade the USEA website and will use this site to attract additional visitors to Open Studios. We know that the website has become a year-round resource for individuals looking for specific kinds of art. Registered artists will be listed on the website with relevant details including contact information and an image of their work. Participating artists are highly encouraged to submit an image to be posted with their information as it makes the site more visually interesting. To post an image with your listing either mail a photo, postcard or similar material (no slides please) along with your participation form, or email an electronic image (jpeg or pdf) to esheldon@mpwi.org. If sent electronically, your image will not be posted until your participation form has been received. The 2006 website will be fully functional by the last week in July.
