A visit to South End Open Studios is a
unique opportunity to experience firsthand the wealth of art being created
in a one of Boston’s most diverse, energetic and history filled neighborhoods.
The South End is truly alive during Open Studios weekend as artists
invite the public to view their work where they work in brownstones,
renovated warehouses, new loft spaces and just plain interesting spaces
throughout the area. The South End also has an amazing selection of great
year-round restaurants and shops that are yours to explore during your
visit to Open Studios.
Visitors to South End Open Studios can walk easily from building to
building (or those who prefer can take the free shuttle buses.) Each stop
along the route will introduce you to artists working in a range of media
oils, watercolors, photography, sculpture, mixed media, fiber arts, ceramics,
jewelry, wood, glass, and metal as well as other visual and performance arts.
This is your chance to meet the artists firsthand explore types of work
that are both familiar and new to you and purchase work directly from the
artists or make appointments to visit individual artists after Open Studios
for a more in-depth look at their work.
USEA makes every effort to make sure your visit is a great one.
Stop by one of our on-site information booths (on the plaza at the
Boston Center for the Arts, at 560 Harrison Avenue or 535 Albany Street
across from the Boston Flower Market), use our free parking and shuttle
buses, grab a snack at one of our outdoor cafes... but most importantly enjoy
the wonderful art all around you!
This year, USEA will continue to update our website monthly with
information on member artists activities such as gallery shows, holiday
happenings, etc. So check back often and stay in touch year-round.
