Giving Thanks
In this season of gratitude, we take time out to count our blessings.
We are thankful for the talented artists who comprise our membership. This year, over 80 artists signed up for memberships with United South End Artists. We were pleased to see many membership renewals as well as brand new members who have recently started making art in the South End.
Having recently concluded the 2021 South End Open Studios, we are thankful for the art-loving public who turned out in force to visit our artist studios. It was great to see people engaging with artists and their work. Virtual exhibits are fine in a pinch, but nothing beats seeing art in person and having a meaningful conversation with the artist.
We are thankful for the weather during South End Open Studios. A lot of planning goes into having an event like South End Open Studios, but the one thing we cannot control is the weather — and it affects just about every aspect of attendance.
We are thankful for the many South End business who showed their support for USEA by displaying our Open Studios posters in their shop windows. This allowed USEA to publicize our event to the South End and outlying neighborhoods. Some businesses even boosted South End Open Studios on their social media platforms.
Finally, we are thankful for the spirit of creativity that still pervades on the South End. It has been a rough year and a half for everyone, but it was good to see artists still creating and a public still eager to see their work.
