Katalene (Kat) Masella was raised in Hartford, Connecticut, by her single mother. While living in a low-income housing complex, she discovered art as a way to uplift her community.
Masella holds a postgraduate certificate in Visual Arts from Harvard University and is currently pursuing a master's degree.
To advance social impact, Masella established Art for World Relief, an initiative that creates and donates artwork to support brain health organizations.
Masella has been awarded the Goetemann Distinguished Artist Award for 2026, which entails presenting at the Cape Ann Museum and leading a workshop at Montserrat College of Art.
