I have been photographing since the 1980's, during which time I took a couple of workshops in Maine and bought a couple of cheap toy cameras. I continue to use a number of film cameras, including pinhole, Polaroids, 35mm, and medium format, for most of my fine art images. A major thread through much of my work is giving visual strength to mundane, banal, and everyday subject matter. Another theme is landscape, much of which is from exploring woodland trails around Boston.
One of the gifts in using toy cameras, pinhole cameras, and instant film cameras is the occurrence of "happy accidents." This can include a light leak, a chemical glitch on a Polaroid, or an unintentional double exposure. I embrace serendipitous results.
