Jo Ann Rothschild is an abstract painter and printmaker. Who has lived and worked in Boston for more than 50 years. Her work has also been exhibited in Berlin, Chicago, Havana and New York. She received the first Maud Morgan Purchase Prize from the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and a fellowship from The Massachusetts Cultural Council. The National Gallery purchased her painting, "Mom's Yahrzeit" in 2024. Her first retrospective was at The Teatro Nacional de Cuba. Another is scheduled for the Danforth Museum in 2028. Solo exhibitions of her work have been held at The Painting Center in New York City, and in Massachusetts at HallSpace, Massasoit Community College and Tufts University. Rothschild has taught at Tufts University and at The University of Massachusetts Boston. She founded the art program at Pine Street Inn where she taught for 11 years.
